English translation rules of living

Annex to LCI-richtlijn COVID-19 | version 14 July 2021

Which letter is intended for me?

The contact tracing guideline was changed on 8 July 2021. Since then, whether or not a person has to go into quarantine and which rules are then applicable depends on whether that person is immune (protected) against corona and whether that person is a housemate or close contact. Are you not sure which letter is intended for you? Then read the information below to find out.

When am I considered to be protected against corona?

  • If, at least 14 days ago, you were given a 2nd vaccination with the AstraZeneca, Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.
  • If, at least 14 days ago, you were given a vaccination with the Janssen vaccine.
  • If, at least 14 days ago, you were given a single vaccination with one of the vaccines used in the Netherlands and you also had corona before that.
  • If you had corona within the last 6 months (180 days).

Types of contacts

Via contact tracing, the municipal health service (GGD) determines what kind of contact you have had and what you should then do. Persons who have had contact are divided into three groups:

Housemates:
The persons you live with and are often physically closer to than 1.5 m for periods longer than 15 minutes.

Close contacts:

  • A person who is not your housemate in whose proximity you spent more than 15 minutes separated by a distance of less than 1.5 m, or in whose proximity you spent a total of more than 15 minutes within a period of 24 hours separated by a distance of less than 1.5 m.
  • A person in whose proximity you spent less than 15 minutes at a distance of less than 1.5 m but with a great risk of infection. For example if someone sneezed or coughed in your face or if you had physical contact such as hugging or kissing.

Other contacts:

  • A person with whom you had contact for a period of more than 15 minutes at a distance of more than 1.5 m in an indoor space. For example in a room at the office, in class, or during a meeting.
  • A person in whose proximity you spent less than 15 minutes at a distance of less than 1.5 m but with a small risk of infection. For example in a brief encounter at a distance of less than 1.5 m.

Where did the contact take place?

If the contact took place at a childcare facility, primary school, or secondary school, special recommendations apply for close contacts and other contacts.
